What if you re-evaluated the thing that makes you most you?

I recently got told I had an action bias.

I was a little offended.

I thought my intention towards action was a good thing.

Get it done, right?

Make a decision and go.

Now, I know they didn’t intend it in a mean way- it was a very astute observation about how I make decisions.

It was actually revelatory to have someone pick up something that is at the very core of who I am and reflect it back to me slightly differently from how I perceive it.

Is this knowledge going to stop me being inclined towards action over reflection?

No, but in high stakes environments how will this understanding of that bias help me make better decisions?

And if I am biased towards action in life and sailing, it stands to reason I’m biased toward action with my work too.

What could I be missing?

What about you?

Have you ever been led to reevaluate something intrinsic to yourself?

And seen a positive flip side you didn’t realize was hiding there?

And how did it change how you live or work?
