Not every talk is a TED talk (but that’s a good thing!)

Not every idea is a TED talk.

And that’s OK.

Maybe you have a very niche audience.

Maybe there are too many TED talks on your area of expertise already.

Maybe you work in more spiritual or political realms that make TEDx organizers a little squirmy.

That’s OK!

As a speaker coach and TEDx organizer, part of doing my job well means telling people that maybe their idea is not a TEDx talk.

Or that it’s not there yet.

That doesn’t mean you can’t make speaking a significant part of your business.

TEDx is great for credibility, but there are WAYYY more speaking opportunities out there that are much more likely to be in front of your target audience and are definitely better paid!

So, if you’re thinking of making speaking a part of your business, the best use of your energy would be to start developing your signature talk before your TEDx talk.

That’s the talk you give regularly that speaks directly to the people you want to become your clients.

So how do you start building your signature talk?

Start with these questions:

- Who are your ideal clients?
- What do you want to say to them?
- Why do you care about it?
- Why should they care about it?
- How will you help them achieve it?

That's your signature talk in a nutshell.
