Go out there and be a terrible speaker

Nobody wakes up being an incredible public speaker.

It takes time, it takes practice, and I'm afraid it takes a good number of talks that really don't go that well.

But each one you do will be better than the last.

Look up old speeches by your favorite speakers- Brené Brown, Simon Sinek, Michelle Obama, TonyRobbins... whoever! They sound nothing like they do today.

They may be naturally enigmatic, have fascinating things to say, but I guarantee you that the first speech they ever did was mediocre at best.

It takes time for your style to evolve.

You won’t know who you really want to be on stage until you get up there.

You can spend days or weeks writing and practicing your speech until it is 'perfect'. And then I guarantee you, you will get off that stage and immediately know how you can make it better.

If you want to make speaking a part of your business, and if you want to be a really compelling, engaging speaker in the future- get out there and be an average speaker today.

I also promise you that all your favorite speakers have worked with coaches and speech writers along the way, so if you need a little helping hand, you know where I am https://lnkd.in/eG4HCr52
